OCZ SSDで3月中にも発売がアナウンスされていたOCZ SummitシリーズのSSDだが、同社のTonyが公式に4週間から6週間先に延期されたことを明らかにした。

OCZ SSD Summit（サミット）シリーズは、読込、書込ともに200MBオーバーの高性能パフォーマンスを発揮するSSD。SAMSUNGが発表したMMDOE56G5MXP-0VBのOEM品ともいわれていたが、同社のTonyはOCZ SSD SummitシリーズにはSAMSUNGが開発したコントローラが搭載されることを認めている。

OCZ Technologyが発売したSSDプロダクトの新製品「Vertexシリーズ」の新しいファームウェアが今週（3月8日～）リリース予定と噂されていたが、同社のTonyは10日、それを否定。Vertexシリーズの新ファームウェアは来週（3月15日～）にリリースを延期した。

OCZ SSD Vertexシリーズ新ファームウェアのリリース延期について、同氏はファームウェア更新のためにDOS環境でPCを起動する必要があるが、その環境を提供するためのテストがまだ終わっていないためとした。OCZ Vertexシリーズは3月上旬に発売されたものの、OCZのパフォーマンス公称値と大きくかけ離れた結果となっている。特にライト性能が公称値で書込最大180MBに対して、現行ファームウェアでは50MB程度しか出ていない。

we are waiting for the DOS version...this is going to take a while as they have to do more testing. Im looking now at another week...which I know is crap...but its the best i can do.
